As summer is getting started, many of you could be taking vacations making it important to keep your home safe while you are out of town. You want your house to appear as if it is occupied, using lights on timers and scheduling them to change every once in a while. Also, use a timer on a radio to bring in background noise to potential trespassers. When talking about your vacation on social media, be careful to not discuss dates of when you will not be at your house, this information could get into the wrong hands. Let your trusted neighbors and friends know about your travel plans and ask them to contact you if they see suspicious activity at your house. Ask your neighbor to pick up your mail everyday, a buildup of mail is a sign that no one is home, making it easy for an intruder to come in. Lastly, be sure to lock the garage, gates, etc. While vacations can be fun, make sure you will not be coming home to a disaster by taking these precautionary steps and travel safe!
